About Us - Griffin Moving and Storage
Starting in the early 1940s in White Plains N.Y, John Griffin Sr. developed a reputation as an expert mover of pianos and organs for orchestras, schools, churches, and the piano retailers that serviced New York City and the surrounding suburbs. Customers who had their pianos delivered by JJ Griffin soon came calling when they were moving to a new location. This led to expanding into moving not only their pianos but their entire household. His signature logo of two men moving a grand piano and bench stuck in the minds of his customers and through word of mouth business was usually booked months in advance. A strong believer in customer service, he insisted on being on every move.
South Florida Movers
Looking to expand this proven and successful business model, John Griffin Jr. set out for Fort Lauderdale to provide moving and storage services to the rapidly expanding population of South Florida. It proved to be an excellent decision. Within 5 years he was able to build his own storage facility at our present location to his own specifications. Realizing the shortcomings of the storage facilities that were in place at the time, he built a 12000 sq ft concrete building, with a concrete roof instead of the flimsy wood frames and tin roofs that were commonplace. This warehouse today is still considered a model for future furniture storage facilities. In the 1980s the company aligned themselves with Allied Van Lines to expand its capabilities in providing interstate and international moving services.
